Katrina Alvarez-Jarratt is a highly awarded, hugely passionate creative who’s worked as an art director and writer in both New Zealand and Australia for over nineteen years.
As Executive Creative Director at TBWA\Sydney she works across leading international and local brands. She also served two years as the National Co-head of AWARD School and sits on the AWARD Council – this role allows her to nurture future talent as well as developing and championing the creative community.
Career highlights include creating a campaign to #Classify Consent, making the first plate to recognise drivers returning to the road after trauma with R plates, helping parents hack their kids’ tech devices at dinnertime with the Dolmio Pepper Hacker and creating a way to PLAY NZ during the depths of COVID.
Katrina has won metal at all the big shows – recent highlights include her work for Classify Consent which has collected Grand Prix for Good at Spikes Asia, Gold at one Show, Innova Lotus ‘For Good’, Shortlisted for Glass at Cannes 2023 and Graphite at D&AD. In 2023 she has also had two different campaigns recognised by Fast Company as World Changing Ideas. Her work for Tourism New Zealand’s PLAY NZ also won Grand Prix at Spikes and was TBWA’s most awarded campaign globally in 2021.
Kat is a seasoned, trusted creative leader. Under her stewardship, her agency has managed to pick up global awards recognition, year-on-year, and retained and won new business, year-on-year. Her experience covers everything from tourism to tech, from FMCG to fashion. And her values of courage, empathy, and curiosity help explain why, in 2023, One Show ranked her in the top 3 ECDs in Australia.
